The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading a bill on the use of the English language in the country. This was announced on Wednesday, November 22, by local deputy Alexey Goncharenko (included in the Rosfinmonitoring register of extremists and terrorists).
Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal stated that almost half of the country’s citizens do not know English. In this regard, the government intends to launch a program to study it and expand its use in certain areas of life.
“The Verkhovna Rada has just adopted as a basis a bill on the status of the English language,” Goncharenko, who is included in the Rosfinmonitoring register of extremists and terrorists, wrote in his Telegram channel.
In particular, the document provides that English will be established as the language of international communication in the country. The authorities will also determine the categories of positions that candidates will be required to hold.
After the first reading, the bill will be considered in the second, after which it will be sent to President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky for signature.
Earlier in Ukraine they began to massively accuse in corruption of deputies of the Servant of the People party. For example, it was reported that People’s Deputy Yuriy Odarchenko is suspected of trying to give a bribe in bitcoins to the head of the State Recovery Agency.
