The publishing house “Kommersant” received the “PRO Education-2023” award

The project of the Kommersant publishing house, carried out by correspondents Maria Bashmakova and Polina Yachmennikova, received first place in the category “Best material dedicated to the year of the teacher and mentor” in the all-Russian educational journalism competition “PRO Education-2023”. The project is dedicated to three great Russian teachers: Konstantin Ushinsky, Anton Makarenko And Vasily Sukhomlinsky.

The Year of the Teacher and Mentor was declared in Russia in 2023 by decree of President Vladimir Putin. Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov has repeatedly noted that the main goal of the year’s events is to strengthen the public prestige of the teaching profession. Appeal to the experience of teachers from different eras – Konstantin Ushinsky, the peak of whose journalistic career occurred with the reforms of Emperor Alexander II; Anton Makarenko, who empirically searched for the foundations of a new Soviet pedagogy, working with pupils of colonies for street children after the Civil War; and Vasily Sukhomlinsky, whose work largely determined the appearance of the Soviet school in the 1970s and 1980s, allows us to better understand the importance of the school as a social institution that does not stop its work even in the most difficult times and ensures social continuity and stability. The annual PRO Education award ceremony took place today, December 7, in the evening as part of the Russia exhibition at VDNKh. The organizers of the ceremony began it with a minute of silence in connection with the tragedy in Bryansk gymnasium No. 5.
