The state prosecution demanded 9 years and 6 months in prison for former Channel One employee Marina Ovsyannikova in the case of fake news about the Russian Armed Forces. This was reported by the telegram channel of the capital’s prosecutor’s office.
As the prosecutor’s office points out, on July 15, 2022, Ovsyannikova published in her own public channel “a video recording and photograph in which she shows a poster with text containing deliberately false information about the actions of military personnel of the Armed Forces.”
A case was opened against Ovsyannikova under paragraph “d” of Part 2 of Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The prosecutor asks to send her to a general regime colony and ban her from engaging in activities related to website administration for five years.
Ovsyannikova herself is not in Russia; she was given a preventive measure in absentia in the form of detention.
Let us remind you that in March last year Ovsyannikov went live on Channel One with a pacifist poster. Then, in March, she was fined 30 thousand rubles under Part 2 of Art. 20.2 of the Administrative Code (organization of an unapproved public event).
