The prosecutor of the Khabarovsk Territory demanded to ban the movement “I/We Sergey Furgal”

The Khabarovsk Territory prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit demanding that the movement “I/We Sergey Furgal” be recognized as extremist and its activities banned in Russia, it reported press service Ministry of Justice. On February 22, the Khabarovsk Regional Court will consider the claim in a closed session.

The slogan “I/We Sergei Furgal” was used during protests in the region in 2020. The protests began after the ex-governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Sergei Furgal became involved in a criminal case of murders and attempts committed in 2004–2005.

On February 10, 2023, the jury of the Lyubertsy City Court found Sergei Furgal guilty of two contract murders and attempted murders. He was sentenced to 22 years in a maximum security colony. Sergei Furgal did not admit guilt. In December of the same year, the Babushkinsky District Court of Moscow began to consider a second criminal case against the ex-governor and nine of his alleged accomplices. They are accused of creating a criminal community to steal bank loans worth billions of rubles.
