The Prosecutor General’s Office will check the poetess Polozkova for justification of terrorism

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Culture Elena Yampolskaya appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to check the statements of the poetess Vera Polozkova for signs of a crime. In an interview with the Dozhd TV channel (recognized as a foreign agent), the poetess spoke about the explosion of Zakhar Prilepin’s car. State Duma deputy published the response from the Prosecutor General’s Office in her Telegram channel.

It follows from the response to the appeal that the Prosecutor General’s Office will check Vera Polozkova under Article 205.2. Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public justification of terrorism) in connection with her comment about the attempt on the life of the writer Zakhar Prilepin.

Vera Polozkova left Russia in March 2022. Earlier, Elena Yampolskaya, when asked about the purpose of her appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office, answered as follows: “If a criminal case is initiated, we will not see Ms. Polozkova in Russia. The bonus is nice, agree. According to the deputy, Vera Polozkova’s conviction under such an article will not allow her to “live there and earn money here.”

In 2017, Ms. Polozkova wrote on her Facebook page (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) that she would drink champagne if Zakhar Prilepin died. Then the writer served as deputy commander of a special forces battalion for work with personnel of the DPR army.

In a June interview with the Dozhd TV channel, the poetess, when asked by an interviewer about whether she drank champagne on the day Zakhar Prilepin’s car was blown up, answered: “We didn’t reach the champagne <...> Maximum beer. After that, the poetess clarified that she did not feel “no joy, no gloating” on the day of the assassination attempt.

In December 2022, the head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, said that lawyers were checking the statements of Vera Polozkova in an interview with Yuri Dud (recognized as a foreign agent) in order to discredit the Russian army. During the conversation, she spoke critically about the actions of Russian forces in the Donbass.
