The Prosecutor General’s Office sent to court the case of an attack on the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Lvov

The Prosecutor General’s Office approved the indictment in the criminal case of an attack on the Russian Consulate General in Lviv in 2016, reported press service of the department.
The accused in the case is former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vladimir Parasyuk, who is charged with publicly justifying terrorism in the media (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), desecration of the Russian state flag (Article 329 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and attacking persons under international protection for the purpose of provocation of war or complications of international relations (Part 2 of Article 360 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The attack on the Russian Consulate General in Lvov occurred on March 9, 2016. According to investigators, Parasyuk and his accomplices during a rally in support of the Ukrainian ex-deputy Nadezhda Savchenko bombarded the diplomatic mission building with pyrotechnics and other objects. After which Parasyuk entered the territory of the Consulate General and tore down the Russian flag, publicly threw it to the ground, trampled and burned it. In addition, he gave a speech to the media, in which, according to the department, he called for terrorist activities against Russians.
In 2017, Parasyuk was put on the wanted list, and then the Basmanny District Court arrested him in absentia. The Prosecutor General’s Office noted that “there is no real possibility of Parasyuk’s participation in a criminal case.” The case was sent to the 2nd Western District Military Court and will be considered in the absence of the defendant.
