The Prosecutor General’s Office recognized the XZ foundation as an undesirable organization – Kommersant

The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has recognized the XZ foundation (XZ gGmbH) as an undesirable organization. The fund has not yet been included in the Ministry of Justice register. XZ foundation positions itself as an anti-propaganda agency. There is criminal liability for cooperation with undesirable organizations in the Russian Federation.

The decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office was announced by State Duma deputy Andrei Lugovoi in Telegram channel. The deputy posted the response of First Deputy Prosecutor General Anatoly Razinkin to his request regarding the activities of the fund. The response states that the decision was made on February 14.

Andrei Lugovoy wrote that the fund’s projects receive funding from government agencies in Germany, Belgium, Canada and other countries. These projects, according to the deputy, contain irony and mockery of the military special operation in Ukraine. In general, Mr. Lugovoi believes, the goal of the XZ foundation is to overthrow the current government in Russia.

XZ foundation was founded in 2023. The foundation’s website is currently empty. With his support, journalist Mikhail Zygar (declared a foreign agent) created a series of historical videos “Great Russian Villains,” and the Most society developed a guide for communicating with relatives who support the fighting in Ukraine. Currently, 142 organizations are recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation.
