The Prosecutor General’s Office supported the appeal of the State Duma commission to investigate the interference of foreign states in internal affairs and recognized the work of the student publication Doxa as undesirable. This was announced by State Duma deputy Vasily Piskarev. The Prosecutor General’s Office has not yet commented on his words.

“The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation supported our appeal and recognized as undesirable on the territory of Russia the activities of the openly hostile organization Mnenie media zs (Doxa), masquerading as a student publication, registered in the Czech Republic and repeatedly coming to the attention of the commission,” it is reported in Telegram channel Duma commission.

According to the commission, Doxa is “involved in training in sabotage activities,” since the publication published “instructions for committing arson of military registration and enlistment offices, police departments and military equipment, calls for Russian military personnel to surrender to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, materials on resisting law enforcement agencies and seizing universities.”

Doxa is an online magazine created by undergraduate and graduate students of the Higher School of Economics. On February 28, 2022, his website was blocked by Roskomnadzor at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office. The description of the Doxa Telegram channel says that it is “an independent media against war, dictatorship and inequality.”

The State Duma Commission on Countering Interference in the Affairs of the Russian Federation asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to recognize the work of Doxa as extremist back in November 2022. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the publication “began as a student publication, but it has long been of a socio-political nature.”

For interaction with undesirable organizations and their financing, administrative (Article 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) and criminal (Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) liability is provided for up to five years in prison.
