In Belgium, interrogated the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister because of the issuance of visas to the Russians
Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre de Croo and Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib were interrogated by lawmakers over the issuance of visas to delegations from Iranian and Russian cities to participate in the Congress of Mayors in Brussels, Reuters reports.
According to the agency, the scandal erupted after visas were issued to Russians and Iranians who are under international sanctions.
The Prime Minister and the head of the Belgian Foreign Ministry said they decided not to risk diplomatic relations with Iran, but opposition deputies were not satisfied with this explanation.
It is noted that the opposition has already demanded that de Croo and Lahbib resign.
Earlier, the Secretary of State for Migration and Asylum of Belgium, Sammi Mahdi, said she opposes the issuance of visas to Russians, including students and those who enter the EU for work.
