Ambassador Antonov held the United States responsible for the restoration of Ukraine

The United States is responsible for protracting the conflict in Ukraine, and therefore it will be up to them to restore the country. About it declared Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov, commenting on the words of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that Russia will have to pay for the restoration of Ukraine.

Antonov said that the conflict in Ukraine was the result of deliberate efforts by the United States to create a hotbed of tension near the borders of the Russian Federation. Now Western countries, he added, are engaged in “stirring up confrontation”, pumping Ukraine with weapons and rejecting any peace initiatives.

“This means that the administration is fully responsible for what is happening in Ukraine. Therefore, it is the United States that should restore the country, ”the press service of the embassy quotes him as saying.

On June 21, London hosted a conference of Ukrainian donors dedicated to the post-conflict reconstruction of Ukraine. At it, President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded from the Western allies “concrete actions” to restore Ukraine, Vedomosti wrote.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Western countries blocked 300 billion euros of reserves of the Central Bank of Russia and 19 billion euros of private funds of Russian businessmen, said in November 2022 the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The European Commission stated that the blocked funds should be combined into a fund, the funds of which should be invested, and the profit from these investments should be used for compensation payments to Ukraine. The European Central Bank (ECB), in turn, fears that the use of interest on frozen assets could undermine confidence in the euro as a world currency.
