The crash of the Luna 25 interplanetary station is upsetting, but the lunar program will continue. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with young scientists and specialists in the space industry.
“Mistakes are mistakes, this is such a complex field of activity. Well, it’s a shame, it’s a shame for everyone, I assure you. But nothing, this is astronautics, this is space exploration, complex tasks, everyone understands everything,” the president said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
He emphasized that this is a negative experience, but “still an experience” that will be used in the future to prevent mistakes.
The crash of Luna 25 occurred in August. Roscosmos named the cause of the accident as abnormal functioning of the on-board control complex during the transition to the pre-landing orbit.
