The possibility of Ukraine joining NATO is excluded at this stage, said Jessica Cox, head of the NATO Nuclear Policy Directorate. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Cox, speaking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, noted that all NATO members agree with this point of view, although they “support rapprochement” between Kyiv and the alliance.

“We are not yet at the stage where Ukraine could join the alliance,” she said.

Cox also indicated that “a lot of work needs to be done” in contacts between the Kyiv regime and NATO, but that “important steps in this direction” were taken at the NATO summit in Vilnius.

Following the NATO summit, Western media wrote that the event became a “painful lesson” for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. It was indicated that the West is not interested in seeing Ukraine as a member of the North Atlantic Alliance. For example, US President Joe Biden said that the alliance does not want to accept into its membership a country on whose territory there is a conflict.
