The popularity of Barnaul and Arkhyz has sharply increased among tourists

The travel planning service told which Russian cities this year have become noticeably more popular with tourists than in 2021. To do this, analysts compared data for two years on the top 50 destinations within the country where air tickets were most often bought, and the top 100 cities where hotels were booked.
Flights
Barnaul showed the most noticeable growth: the share of bookings in 2022 was 0.43%, and the popularity of the city more than doubled. The demand for flights to Khanty-Mansiysk (0.27% of all air tickets were bought there this year) and Grozny (the share of destinations was 0.75%) increased exactly 2 times.
The list also includes Nizhnevartovsk (up 66%, share of bookings 0.32%), Vladikavkaz (+55%, 1.22%), Omsk (+54%, 1.09%), Kirov (+51%, 0 .35%), Vladivostok (+45%, 0.45%), Tyumen (+45%, 1.63%), Irkutsk (+43%, 0.61%) and Novosibirsk (+40%, 0.41 %).
Hotels
In the outgoing year, Arkhyz showed the greatest growth: the demand for housing there increased by 160%, and the share of bookings for accommodation was 0.11%. Vladikavkaz was in second place: its popularity increased by 142% (share – 0.42%). Rounding out the top three are Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, where hotel stays were 123% more frequent than in 2021, accounting for 0.11% of all bookings in Russia.
In addition, the top 10 includes Grozny (demand increased by 97%, share 0.34%), Lazarevskoye (+95%, 0.18%), Tuapse (+94%, 0.10%), Krasnaya Polyana ( +85%, 0.34%), Makhachkala (+77%, 0.58%), Kolomna (+62%, 0.11%) and Ulan-Ude (+54%, 0.21%
