“A child is a gift, not an object of contract”: Pope Francis advocated banning surrogacy
The Pope hopes for a universal ban on surrogacy. The pontiff also spoke out against the so-called gender theory – a system of concepts in which a person’s gender identity does not necessarily coincide with his biological sex.
On Monday, Pope Francis received the ambassadors of states to the Holy See. In his speech, the Pope called the practice of so-called surrogacy “deplorable.” In his opinion, it “seriously violates the dignity of a woman and her child.” “A child is always a gift, not an object of contract,” the pontiff said during a broadcast on the Vatican News portal. He hopes for the efforts of diplomats and the international community to prohibit this practice.
Speaking about gender theory, the pontiff called it an example of ideological colonization. Francis considers the research of scientists in this area extremely dangerous, since “differences are erased in the desire to make everyone equal.”
