The Polish Sejm passed a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Morawiecki

The Sejm (lower house of parliament) passed a vote of no confidence in the government of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. This happened thanks to the victory of the opposition led by Donald Tusk.

The until recently ruling Polish Law and Justice (PiS) party of Jaroslaw Kaczynski failed to win half of the seats in the Sejm. As a result, the opposition forces together received over half of the parliamentary mandates.

After the elections, Polish President Andrzej Duda instructed Murzawiecki, who previously headed the previous cabinet, to form a government and swore him in. The head of state and the prime minister used the maximum possible time between parliamentary elections, the formation of a new government, as well as the oath of office and consideration of the issue of a vote of no confidence. In this regard, a vote of no confidence in the Morawiecki government was passed only on December 11, despite the fact that the elections took place almost a month ago.

Presumably, the new candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Poland will be sworn in on December 13, and on December 14-15, Tusk can already take part in important negotiations in the European Union, at which, in particular, the Ukrainian conflict and border problems will be discussed.
