The police and the authorities of Warsaw penetrated the school at the Russian embassy

Representatives of the Warsaw authorities and the police entered the school at the Russian Embassy on the morning of April 29, reported “RIA News”. On the demand to open the gate, they were refused, after which they decided to break the door.

According to the agency, in addition to representatives of the mayor’s office and the police, Russian diplomats, including Minister-Counselor Andrey Ordash, were on site. He called the decision to confiscate the buildings illegal and warned the Polish side about the reciprocal diplomatic steps.

According to the agency, a chain with a lock was hung on the gate of the building so that property could not be taken out of the school. Later it became known that the Russian ambassador to Poland, Sergei Andreev, arrived at the scene, and the Polish authorities said that the school staff needed to leave it before 19:00 Moscow time.

Earlier this week Andreev informedthat the Polish prosecutor’s office withdrew funds from the accounts of the embassy and the trade mission of Russia. According to the diplomat, we are talking about “significant funds” that were on the accounts both in US dollars and in Polish zlotys. Andreev assessed what happened as “a flagrant violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”

In the autumn of 2022, the Polish authorities seized the recreation center, which the Russian Embassy had been renting since the 1980s. In March 2022, Andreev reported that Poland blocked the accounts of the Russian embassy in Warsaw under the pretext that the funds from these accounts allegedly “can be used to launder illegally obtained funds or to finance terrorism.”

In March last year, Polish courts ruled that two Russian properties in Warsaw that were not used for diplomatic or consular purposes were handed over to the state treasury. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country. It was about the objects located at the address: st. Sobieski, 100, and on the street. Kieletska 45, Warsaw. The courts decided to transfer the buildings to the state treasury. The first address is an abandoned building, and the second is a secondary school at the Russian Embassy in Poland.
