The team of FC Fakel took part in planting trees at the carbon fiber range near the Leather cordon in the Voronezh region. In this unique ecological area, scientists find out which trees absorb the most greenhouse gases.
Football players Georgiy Gongadze, Ilnur Alshin, Khyzyr Appaev, Maxim Maksimov, Roman Akbashev led by head coach Dmitry Pyatibratov planted seedlings of poplar, birch and pine.
“To be honest, it warmed my heart. We were glad to take part in the joint tree planting campaign, to contribute to environmental protection. We left with a great mood, – said the team coach.
The fans were upset that they were not invited to work with their favorite team: “If they had said in advance, they would have pulled themselves up to help.” One of the fans humorously suggested that next time everyone should plant potatoes together. Some suggested giving the players boots, “otherwise it’s not easy in black soil in sneakers.”
In total, 500,000 trees will be planted at the carbon landfill on an area of 150 hectares by the end of October. The campaign is part of SIBUR’s Green Formula forest climate program.
