The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the provocation with the T-72 tank in Amsterdam
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation drew attention to another ugly propaganda performance by the Dutch authorities with a T-72 tank displayed on Leidseplein in Amsterdam, which was allegedly in service with the Russian Armed Forces and, according to Kiev, was shot down in March 2022. This statement was made on Tuesday, June 6, by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
As the official pointed out, the Dutch authorities tried to attract the attention of the general public and demonstrate support for the Ukrainian wards in the language of symbols, but “the plan did not work.” Residents of the country and journalists for the most part demonstrated the exact opposite reaction: they laid flowers at the tank in memory of the dead and openly called horror stories about the “Russian threat” propaganda.
Zakharova expressed the hope that the negative attitude of the public will force the authorities of the Netherlands “to think about the limits of what is permitted in further spinning the flywheel of Russophobia in conditions where even the citizens of the country express open hostility to this.”
In May, it became known that in Amsterdam an attempt was made to stage a provocation with a destroyed Russian tank. turned out to be a failure – local residents threw flowers at him, and also demanded that the authorities stop supplying military products to Ukraine.
At the same time, the Netherlands is supplying the Ukrainian army with tanks. In April, Denmark and the Netherlands announced their intention to transfer 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
