The Stavropol national team, according to the results of the team event, closed the top four
Grozny hosted the participants of the XII Festival of Culture and Sports of the Peoples of the South of Russia, which is held by the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The solemn opening ceremony of the forum was held at the Uvais Akhtaev Volleyball Palace. More than 600 participants from 17 regions, as well as from the DPR and LPR competed for the awards of the competitions in the capital of Chechnya.
The host team from Chechnya got the palm, athletes from Dagestan earned silver, and the bronze went to the Krasnodar Territory together with its owners.
– The Stavropol team performed well in Grozny. According to the results of the team event, the regional team closed the top four, – said Andrey Tolbatov, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Stavropol Territory.
The Stavropol quartet, which included Dmitry Mironov, Alexander Sergeev, Danil Pavlov and Felix Shestopalov, won gold in the 4x200m track and field relay. Oksana Turchina won in archery, and Khamzat Urusov was out of competition in belt wrestling in the weight category up to 75 kilograms.
We also note that the festival in Grozny was held as part of the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia. Within the framework of the festival, the second forum of national groups “Multinational Russia” was held.
