The people’s jury will select the most worthy works of the competition “In the best traditions”

On February 1, the acceptance of applications for the competition of folk and applied arts in the Best Traditions announced by the Moskovskaya Pravda newspaper ended. The theme announced last year when the contest was launched was not chosen by chance: last year was the Year of Cultural Heritage. But the immersion in folk art does not end there, just as the very source of folk inspiration, talent and fantasy does not dry up. What happens next – in our material.

The selection of works for the competition is completed

The number of submitted works pleasantly surprised even our managers and employees, experienced in holding competitions.

“When starting this competition, we also wanted to see how popular arts and crafts are in the era of Internet addiction for many people, especially young people. And we are happy to note today that a significant part of the works were sent to the competition by schoolchildren and teenagers, and this is very important!

The second pleasant circumstance is the widest geography of cities and villages, from which works of amateur masters were sent, literally from Kaliningrad to Khabarovsk. This, on the one hand, speaks of the popularity of many creative trends, and, secondly, shows the scale of our readership. So, no doubt, not only Muscovites will receive awards!” – said the editor-in-chief of the Moskovskaya Pravda newspaper, the chairman of the jury of the competition “In the best traditions” Shod Mulajanov.

However, despite such a large number of submitted works of folk art, the members of the coordinating group fully managed to meet the deadlines stated in the competition regulations.

Unfortunately, not all submitted works will pass to the second stage.

“Firstly, the competition will not include works related to needlework kits, such as cross-stitch, beadwork, diamond mosaic, for consideration by the national and professional jury. All of them are made according to ready-made schemes, when it is proposed to embroider or post an image. These works, for all their brightness and festivity, require more mechanical efforts than creative ones, and since there were a lot of such works sent, the executive directorate decided to exclude them from the competition list,” explained Elena Mamedova, head of the coordination group.

According to her, the contest will also not be considered applications that are drawn up incorrectly: with fuzzy photographs, with no information about the contestant. Unfortunately, there were many such letters. If the work did not meet the conditions of the competition, it was also put aside.

Vote for inspiration

More than 800 works were selected for participation in the competition.

“The works are different: more professional, less professional, but they are all wonderful. They are united by the passion for the work of their authors, the search for self-expression and love for beauty,” Elena Mamedova added.

All selected works will be posted on the Moskovskaya Pravda website, mospravda.ru, in the Competition section until April 20, and the winners will advance to the second qualifying round. All subscribers of Moskovskaya Pravda will be able to take an active part in choosing the best works. It is the popular vote that will determine the winners of the second round, so go to the site, choose a nomination, see the work of our contestants and vote! Voting will last until May 18. As a result, the works that received the most votes from subscribers (they will be in the first lines of the rating) will enter the third and final round.

“I can’t say enough about the feelings that we experienced in the course of this great work.
While we were reading the letters of the contestants, selecting and compiling photographs, we received so many positive emotions that we can safely say that we underwent a health-improving art therapy course, for which we are immensely grateful to our contestants,” Elena Mammadova emphasized.

So, the further fate of the works will be decided by the audience voting and the professional jury.

“I would like to talk about the people without whom our competition would not be so rich and diverse. I mean teachers, educators of additional education schools, social service centers, centers for creativity and development, who give knowledge, experience, and develop the creative skills of their wards. These are very active and caring people. I would like to thank S. A. Fedotov from Tver, Yu. Mingalev from the city of Kurgan, M. Sukhoruchenko from the village of Kazanskaya, Krasnodar Territory, and many others for their active position and for sending letters with applications from their students to the competition “In the Best Traditions,” continued Elena Mamedova.

In June, a gala concert of pop artists will take place, during which there will be a solemn presentation of prizes and gifts to the winners and laureates of the “In the Best Traditions” contest. The guests of honor of the event will be outstanding figures of culture and art of the Russian Federation.

As part of the final concert, the Moskovskaya Pravda newspaper is going to celebrate another significant event – its 105th anniversary.
