The Pentagon will begin studying “methods of influence” on Russian-speaking users in Russian social networks, RT reports.
The program, called Minerva, is supposed to help the US military “better understand social and political phenomena in regions of strategic importance to the United States.”
As part of the program, it is planned to study the methods of “propaganda” aimed at Russian-speaking users on the Internet. This applies to YouTube, as well as the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
For this task, the Pentagon will involve specialists in the field of communications, journalism, sociology, and psychology.
In May, the CIA announced plans to create a Telegram channel for recruiting Russians on the Internet.
