The Pentagon will purchase new weapons and ammunition for the American arsenals to replace those transferred to Ukraine. This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of Defense William LaPlante.
As he clarified, contracts worth about $1 billion 200 million are already being implemented. At the same time, most of the funds – 624 million – were allocated for Stinger missiles, Javelin missiles will be purchased for 352 million, and another 33 million are allocated for HIMARS systems.
For the same amount, according to LaPlante, they will produce new weapons for Ukraine. The list includes drones, tactical vehicles and 155mm artillery shells.
Earlier, Politico, citing unnamed leaders of the US military-industrial complex, published an article stating that it could take several years to replenish the arsenals. One of the reasons is the shortage of workers in the industry.
