The head of the US Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that the department does not yet see the threat of Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine. According to him, Washington conveyed its concern about the use of this type of weapon in contacts with Moscow at a high level.
Speaking about the contacts between the US and Russian defense ministers, Austin said that there were no such contacts in the recent past.
Earlier, Politico reported that Washington is asking China and India to put pressure on Russia, forcing it to abandon the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
As an anonymous non-proliferation official of US President Joe Biden said, the global and political weight of China and India could make the Russian Federation understand that the use of weapons of mass destruction would be a catastrophically terrible idea.
