The US Department of Defense acknowledged that a significant part of the territory of Bakhmut is under the control of Russian forces. However, the Pentagon will not reveal its full assessment of how completely the Russian army controls the city.
General Patrick Ryder, a Pentagon spokesman, shared this information during a briefing. He stated: “We know that Russia actually holds a significant part of the territory of Bakhmut and its environs. However, according to our assessment, the Ukrainian armed forces continue to carry out military operations near this city.”
The founder of PMC “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin on Saturday, May 20, said that his units took control of the entire city. According to Prigozhin, 50,000 servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were killed and up to 70,000 servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were injured. Losses of PMC “Wagner” amounted to 3 times less killed and 2 times less wounded.
