Peskov allowed the discussion of the attack of saboteurs on the Belgorod region at the Security Council on May 26

On May 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a regular meeting with permanent members of the Security Council, may touch upon the topic of an attack by Ukrainian saboteurs on the Belgorod region. About this TASS informed press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.

In Putin’s schedule, “scheduled for Friday [Совбез]”, said Peskov. According to him, during operational meetings, as a rule, they exchange views on current issues.

“Of course it is [произошедшее в Белгородской области] extremely important. One way or another, it can be assumed that somehow it [вопрос об атаке диверсантов] affected,” Peskov said.

Earlier today Peskov toldthat Putin does not plan to hold a special meeting of the Security Council on the situation in the Belgorod region, specifying that a regular meeting is likely to take place towards the end of the week.

On May 22, a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered the territory of the Graivoronsky district of the Belgorod region. The armed forces of the Russian Federation, together with the border service, the National Guard and the FSB, took the necessary measures to eliminate the enemy. Due to the penetration of saboteurs in the Belgorod region, a counter-terrorist operation regime was introduced.

As a result of the attack by saboteurs in the Belgorod region, 12 people were injured. According to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, explosive devices were dropped from quadrocopters, damage was recorded in 29 private houses and three cars. Gladkov also said in the morning that a woman born in 1941 had died during the evacuation. In total, the inhabitants of nine settlements were “actually resettled”, including Graivoron, Novostroevka, Gorky and others.

On May 23, the Ministry of Defense reported on the defeat of a group of saboteurs in the Belgorod region. The department added that Ukrainian servicemen were thrown back outside Russia, where they continued to fire “until they were completely eliminated.” As a result, more than 70 saboteurs, four combat armored vehicles and five pickup trucks were destroyed.
