Elena Grek, pediatrician, gastroenterologist, leading allergist-immunologist at the SM-Clinic in St. Petersburg, told “Gazete.Ru”that the daily norm of sweets for a child aged three to 10 years is only 20 grams, and older children are allowed to eat no more than 25-30 grams.
Such a daily allowance for a child is less than a third of a bar of chocolate or two to four small candies.
According to Grek, it is unlikely that they will be able to fit into such a framework during the New Year holidays, but still, parents should pay attention to how much sweets their child eats. Thus, the doctor explains, the ideal weight of a sweet gift for a child is no more than 250-300 grams. It is important to clarify that chocolate sweets should not be more than 30% of the set.
