The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on October 11 considered and accepted a bill on the ratification of the agreement between the republic and Russia on the creation of a unified regional air defense (air defense) system.
The Russian government approved the draft agreement on a joint air defense system with Kyrgyzstan prepared by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in July 2022. The document stated that the authorized bodies of the parties must jointly approve which troops they will allocate to the joint system. To accommodate Russian forces, Kyrgyzstan will allocate 5 hectares of land to Russia free of charge for the duration of the agreement. In July of the same year, an order was signed to sign an agreement with Kyrgyzstan signed Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As the press service of the Kyrgyz parliament clarified on October 11, the site will be allocated next to the Russian airbase in the city of Kant. To ratify the agreement, it must be signed by the President of the Republic.
