Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was alarmed by the news of damage to the gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia.
“I don’t have technical information, I don’t know if our special services have such information. But, of course, this is quite alarming news,” he told reporters.
Peskov pointed to past dangerous precedents with explosions of Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. The Kremlin is awaiting more detailed information about what happened, he added.
It was reported the day beforethat seismologists have detected a possible explosion near the Balticconnector gas pipeline, which connects Estonian and Finnish gas networks.
