A court in Nizhny Novgorod imposed a year and a half on journalist Natalya Rezontova’s freedom for organizing last year’s unauthorized rallies in support of Alexei Navalny. Judge Timur Khortsev considered that by reposting announcements of protest actions, Natalya Rezontova created a threat of mass infection of people with coronavirus. The convict insists that she was only expressing her civil position. She claims that no one got sick after the rallies and that the police themselves created a threat of infection for the protesters when they blocked their movement.
