The owners of the private zoo did not even apologize to the victim

The court partially satisfied the claim of the Mytishchi city prosecutor, who spoke in defense of a little girl – the victim of a monkey that escaped from a private zoo.

As MK previously reported, on the afternoon of July 21, 2022, a monkey that escaped from the private zoo of a famous lawyer and his wife in the village of Terpigorievo in the urban district of Mytishchi made its way to the site of Russian cosmonaut Elena Kondakova (she was married to cosmonaut Valery Ryumin, twice Hero of the Soviet Union). The monkey attacked children who were playing near the pool. The worst hit was a two-year-old girl who came to visit with her mother. It was her that the animal chose as its victim. The adults barely fought off the baby. The baby had deep cuts on her body and broken fingers. She spent a long time in intensive care, where doctors saved her life.

Immediately after the incident, two criminal cases were opened – under the articles “Negligence” and “Causing grievous bodily harm through negligence.” But they were all stopped.

In May of this year, the Mytishchi city prosecutor appealed to the Mytishchi city court in defense of the rights of the minor with a statement of claim to recover from the owner of the monkey compensation for moral damages and expenses for treatment and rehabilitation of the child in the amount of more than 1.8 million rubles. This civil claim was partially satisfied. However, it turned out that the decision was not enforceable due to the payment of 300 thousand rubles to the minor’s representative.

Meanwhile, friends of the girl’s family told MK that the victim’s parents had to spend a lot of money both on the treatment of their daughter and on her psychological rehabilitation. The zoo owners didn’t even apologize to them. Villagers fear a repeat of the tragedy, as the aggressive monkey still lives in the zoo.
