The businessman had no right to organize air rides
The case of a plane crash that occurred almost 7 years ago in Abkhazia was considered on Wednesday by the Dorogomilovsky Court of the capital. The owner of the Amphibian light aircraft, in the crash of which two adults and a child were killed, was in the dock.
As MK learned, the tragedy happened on July 27, 2017 in the vicinity of Pitsunda. Pilot from Samara Alexander Semenov took two passengers on board for a sightseeing tour. 30-year-old Andrei Ukolov and his wife’s 6-year-old daughter from her first marriage took off on the flight. The wife herself did not fly because she was pregnant. The flight ended in disaster – the plane fell into the Bzyb River, the pilot and passengers were killed. The tragedy of the situation was added by the fact that Andrei and his wife got married just 12 days before the incident – they went to Abkhazia to celebrate their “honeymoon.”
The examination and investigation took a long time. As a result, it turned out that the owner of the plane, the owner of a small private airline Oleg Kuprin, did not have the right to organize air tours, since he did not have the necessary documents for this. The crash occurred due to loss of thrust: the pilot tried to land on the water, but could not hold the plane.
Kuprin was accused of providing services that did not meet safety requirements and resulted in the death of two or more people. He listened to the verdict in silence, without emotion. According to the court decision, the 62-year-old man will spend 3.5 years in a general regime colony. He will also have to pay 2 million rubles to a relative of the victims.
