The organizing committee of the 2024 Olympics expects a decision on the participation of Russians no earlier than September

The chairman of the organizing committee of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Tony Estangue, said that the decision on the participation of Russians and Belarusians in these competitions would be made no earlier than September. Mr. Estangue referred to the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
“I understood from the IOC statement that the decision will be made at the earliest in September 2023,” he answered the question about the possible participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in the Games (quote from Inside The Games). The head of the organizing committee recalled that in order to participate in the Olympics, athletes need to go through qualifying competitions. Athletes will then need to obtain IOC or International Paralympic Committee (IPC) approval.
“As an organizing committee, we will welcome athletes who have qualified and received the approval of the IOC or the IPC,” emphasized Tony Estangue.
In March, the IOC recommended allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions in a neutral status. These recommendations did not apply to the 2024 Olympics, a decision on which was expected later. This month it became known that the Olympic Committees of Russia and Belarus on July 26 won’t get invitation from the IOC to participate in the Summer Games in Paris.
The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris are due to take place from July 26 to August 11, while the Paralympic Games are scheduled from August 28 to September 8.
