The Olympic committees confirmed the non-admission of Russians to the European Games

Athletes from Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the European Games 2023 in any status. Portal announced this Inside the Games with reference to a representative of the European Olympic Committees (EOC). Earlier it was reported that athletes from Russia are invited to participate in competitions.

“Russian and Belarusian athletes will not compete at the European Games in 2023 in any capacity. Less than 40 days are left before the start of the competition, our position will not change,” said the EOC representative.

The European Games will be held from June 21 to July 2 in Poland. These competitions are part of the selection for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. On January 27, the EOC already reported that Russian athletes were not allowed to participate in the tournament.

However, on May 15, the chairman of the coaching council of the Russian Boxing Federation, Eduard Kravtsov saidthat Russian boxers receive invitations to participate in the selection. The federation claimed that they had not received responses to inquiries regarding participation in the European Games.

March 28 International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions in a neutral status, provided that they do not support the Russian special military operation. However, the recommendation does not apply to the 2024 Olympic Games, for which the IOC promised to publish a decision later.
