Vyalbe: Stupak will end his sports career if he does not cope with problems with his head
Olympic cross-country champion Yulia Stupak may retire at the end of this season if she cannot cope with psychological problems, stated President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation Elena Vyalbe.
On Friday, as part of the Spartakiad, a classic style sprint took place for men and women. Stupak failed to qualify for the finals of the race; this was her second competition since December.
“Yulia has a little problem with her head,” Vyalbe pointed out. “If she doesn’t correct them, this will be her last season.” If Stupak does not see any other goals in sports, then, according to the president of the federation, “we need to quit.”
In January, Vyalbe announced the psychological problems of the titled skier due, in particular, to the exclusion of Russians from international competitions.
Stupak is now 29 years old, and in addition to winning the Beijing Olympics, she has three Games bronze medals in her collection, as well as World Championship awards.
