On December 20, the oldest cancer center in Europe and the world celebrates its 125th anniversary: Moscow Research Oncology Institute named after. P.A. Herzen. Today MNIOI named after. P.A. Herzen is a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “National Medical Research Center of Radiology” of the Russian Ministry of Health. For many years, the center has been considered the place where the most advanced medical technologies are tested for the first time, new operations are performed, and new methods of therapy are introduced. The institution is equipped with the latest medical technology for diagnosing and treating patients.
In honor of such an important and special event for all of Russian medicine, the grand opening of a monument to the outstanding surgeon and healthcare organizer Pyotr Aleksandrovich Herzen, whose name the institute bears today, will take place. This sculptural composition will be the first in Moscow dedicated to the founder of Russian oncology.
In addition, a festive event dedicated to the history of the creation of Russian oncology and the directors of the Moscow Oncology Research Institute will be held at the institute’s site. P.A. Herzen with the participation of honorary guests of the center and veterans of the institute. It will be attended by representatives of the Federation Council, State Duma, Russian Government, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Moscow City Hall, General Director of the National Medical Research Center of Radiology of the Russian Ministry of Health Andrey Kaprin, outstanding scientists, doctors, public figures and other honored guests.
