The OECD predicted GDP growth in Russia by 0.8% in 2023 – Kommersant

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has improved its GDP forecast for Russia for 2023. The OECD expects it to grow by 0.8% instead of decreasing by 1.5%, as was the case in June, follows from forecast organizations. In 2024, GDP will grow by 0.9%.
The inflation forecast for 2023 was also lowered – from 5.4% to 5.2%. For 2024, the forecast remained at 5.2%.
“The global economy was more resilient than expected in the first half of 2023, but growth prospects remain weak,” the organization said in its report.
According to the OECD, global GDP will grow by 3% in 2023, with growth slowing to 2.7% in 2024. In June, the organization predicted global economic growth of 2.7% in 2023 and 2.9% in 2024.
Yesterday, September 18, President Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the formation of the federal budget for 2024, during which he called the current situation in the economy “generally stable and balanced.” He noted that GDP dynamics in 2023 turned out to be much better than the previous expectations of the Ministry of Economy: annual growth could be recorded at 2.5–2.8% of GDP.
