The Odysseus lander of an American private company entered lunar orbit

The Nova-C (Odysseus) lunar lander, developed by the American private company Intuitive Machines, has successfully entered lunar orbit. Now it is at an altitude of 92 km above the surface of the Moon, reported press service companies. The spacecraft plans to land on the Earth’s satellite within 24 hours.
The exact time of Nova-C’s scheduled landing is February 23, 01:49 Moscow time. The device should land in the lunar crater Malapert in the south pole region. The company emphasized that the module is in excellent condition.
Odysseus was launched on February 15 on a Falcon 9 rocket built by American businessman Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The module’s landing on the Moon, if successful, will be the first controlled landing of an American spacecraft on an Earth satellite since 1972. Then, from the Apollo 17 spacecraft, people landed on the surface of the Moon for the last time – astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt.
Odysseus carries NASA instruments designed to collect data on the lunar environment ahead of the Artemis lunar landing program planned for 2026.
