Despite the benefits of herring, some people should exercise caution when consuming it. This was told by the endocrinologist and nutritionist, a member of the Russian Association of Endocrinologists Elena Evdokimova, writes “Gazeta.Ru”.
First of all, herring is not recommended for hypertensive patients.
“The fact is that salty foods lead to fluid retention and swelling, which increases blood pressure,” she explained.
Also, the doctor does not advise people with kidney disease to eat this product, as this creates an additional burden on the excretory organs, fluid retention in the body occurs and edema syndrome worsens.
Evdokimova does not recommend herring to pregnant women, lactating women and people with exacerbation of gastrointestinal diseases. It is better for children not to give it until three years old, and for older kids – only lightly salted and not more than 1-2 times a week in small portions.
