The number of Jews repatriated to Israel in 2022 was a record for 23 years

According to the agency, the majority of Jews moving to Israel are 18-35 years old (27%). 24% of those repatriated are under the age of 18, 22% are between the ages of 36 and 50, 14% are between 51 and 64, and 13% are 65 and older.
According to Israeli law, any Jew, as well as a child or grandchild of a person of Jewish origin, has the right to immigrate to Israel. Anyone who arrives in the country receives Israeli citizenship. The Sokhnut agency helps the Jews in repatriation.
In July, the Russian Ministry of Justice asked the court to liquidate the Russian office of Sokhnut. Initially, the department did not explain the reasons, citing violations by the agency of Russian law. Later, the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, denied information from the media that the reason for the liquidation was a “brain drain” from the Russian Federation. At the last court session, the Ministry of Justice informedthat there was no “correct” anti-virus program and cryptographic information protection on the Sokhnut website.
