The number of hospitalizations with coronavirus in Russia increased by 141% per day

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in Russia increased by 4042 per day, 45 patients died. The number of hospitalizations per day was 877, which is 141.6% more than the day before (363), reported at the federal operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus.
The largest number of cases was recorded in Moscow – 1124 cases. The top five in terms of the number of daily infections also included St. Petersburg (663), Sverdlovsk region (194), Samara region (174) and the Udmurt Republic (125). The number of hospitalizations increased in 66 regions of Russia, decreased in 10, and remained unchanged in 9 subjects.
Over the past week, from January 8 to 15, the number of new infections increased by 40.5%, and the number of hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants increased by 32.1%. Rospotrebnadzor explained such indicators to Kommersant by the return of Russians from the New Year holidays and called this period “a kind of mini-September” from an epidemiological point of view. The supervisory service added that “in a week or two” the incidence should stabilize and then decline, “unless some new factors intervene.”
