The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia Botirjon Asadov said that the number of companies with Russian capital in the country is approaching three thousand, and over the past three years this figure has doubled.
As an Uzbek diplomat said in an interview “RIA News”Russia is currently “one of the leading investors” in the economy of Uzbekistan.
In July of this year, the US Treasury included Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in the list of states that can supply sanctioned goods to Russia. At the same time, the American ambassador in Tashkent, Daniel Rosenblum, later said that the government of Uzbekistan “confirmed very clearly” that they want to comply with the sanctions, Gazeta.uz reported. The European Union’s Special Envoy for Sanctions, David O’Sullivan, in turn, allowed the introduction of restrictive measures against Uzbek companies if they help circumvent sanctions.
