The number of people infected with meningococcal infection in Yekaterinburg increased to eight
Rospotrebnadzor’s office for the Sverdlovsk region reported on its Telegram channel on Thursday that the number of people infected with meningitis had increased to eight after an outbreak at an Ozon distribution center in the capital of the Urals.
According to the agency, as of July 6, 8 cases of the disease have already been registered in Yekaterinburg.
It is noted that all those who had contact with the sick at the place of work and residence are under medical supervision, a medical post has been organized on the territory of the distribution center.
It is also reported that about 400 people have already been vaccinated against the infection. In addition, employees of the unit where the outbreak occurred and people who have been in contact with sick people are being prophylactic with antibiotics.
The outbreak of meningitis became known on 5 July. Seven cases have been reported among Ozon employees in Yekaterinburg.
Two infected people have died.
