More than 30 people are vying to be nominated as candidates for the post of President of the Russian Federation, said Ella Pamfilova, Chairman of the Central Election Commission. She assured that the campaign will be competitive.
“Of course, the campaign will be competitive, since it is obvious that there will be more than one candidate. In any case, now there are already more than 30 applicants to become a candidate,” Ms. Pamfilova said in an interview with TASS.
According to her, “the degree of competition depends not so much on the number of applicants, but on their quality.” The head of the Central Election Commission added that now the contenders are “holding events, parties are holding congresses.”
Presidential elections will be held March 15–17, 2024. Candidates have already been nominated Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Nikolai Kharitonov (CPRF), Vladislava Davankova (“New people”). December 20 Central Election Commission registered initiative group to nominate Vladimir Putin as a candidate.
