In Crimea, there is no threat of flooding due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, but the North Crimean Canal will become shallow, said the head of the region Sergey Aksenov.
“Regarding the situation associated with the undermining of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. There is no threat of flooding in Crimea. However, there is a risk that the North Crimean Canal will become shallow… Work is underway to minimize water losses in the canal,” the governor wrote in his Telegram-channel.
At present, according to him, there are about 40 million cubic meters of water in the canal. The reservoirs of the peninsula with drinking water are about 80% full.
Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev assuredthat damage to the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station will not affect the water supply of the hero city, since it uses its own reservoirs, the reserves of which are at a maximum.
In the Kherson region, the upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was destroyed at night. According to local authorities, this was due to shelling. According to emergency services, flooding threatens 80 settlements, but so far no evacuation has been announced in Nova Kakhovka.
