Two-time Stanley Cup winner with Detroit, Dominik Hasek, believes that Russian players playing in the NHL advertise Russia. For such advertising, according to the player, the NHL should pay Ukraine $2-4 billion annually.

“Alexander Ovechkin represents his country in the NHL and is an advertisement for Russia. Well, the NHL, allowing Ovechkin and other Russian hockey players to play, advertises this country. For each season of such Russian advertising, the NHL is obliged to pay 2-4 billion dollars to Ukraine,” Dominik Hasek said on air “Match TV”.

This statement came after statements Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin, who, answering the question of why sanctions are not taken against Russian players in the NHL, said that the league selects players by skills and abilities, and not by nationality. In the last NHL championship, 50 field players and 12 goalkeepers from Russia played.
