The eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, Prince Charles, now the king, has filed a statement in connection with the death of his mother.
“The death of my dear mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of deepest sorrow for me and my family. We mourn the death of a distinguished ruler and adored mother. I know that her passing will be felt throughout the country and the Commonwealth, by countless people around the world”, Charles said in a statement.
The date of the official accession of 73-year-old Charles to the throne has not yet been announced. According to the British press, citing official statements, the ceremony will take place “as soon as possible.”
“At a time of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and supported by the knowledge of the respect and deep affection that the Queen enjoyed,” Charles added.
