The new head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Litvinenko, turned out to be a cryptographer from the FSB Academy

Another new appointee to a position in the law enforcement agency in Ukraine had a background in studying in Moscow. Earlier it was reported that the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, graduated from the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School. Now it has turned out that Alexander Litvinenko, who replaced the head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine today, Alexey Danilov, also studied in Moscow – at the Higher School of the KGB of the USSR named after. F. E. Dzerzhinsky.

It is known from open sources that 51-year-old Litvinenko, who has been the chairman of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine for the last three years, studied in Moscow from 1989 to 1994, first at the Higher School of the KGB of the USSR and then at the Academy of the FSB of Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

As the Ukrainian publication Strana clarifies, Litvinenko graduated from the Moscow Institute of Cryptography at the FSB Academy, that is, he became a professional cryptographer.

For some time he worked at the SBU in the government communications department, then worked at the Institute for Strategic Studies, and later returned to the SBU as deputy head of the Department of Information and Analytical Support.

Litvinenko also studied at the British Royal College of Defense Science (RUSI), and then in 2014 became Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

He was appointed head of the Foreign Intelligence Service in 2021.

It is interesting that some Ukrainian publications that are now publishing Litvinenko’s biography did not include his years of study at the Russian FSB Academy.
