Russian President Vladimir Putin, during the presentation of awards to young cultural figures, spoke about the importance of humanism against the backdrop of the recent terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall. According to him, while experiencing this tragedy, it is necessary to follow the values ​​of creativity and mercy.

“It is extremely important for us now, when we deeply experience what happened last Friday, to rely on these values ​​of creativity, humanism and mercy. They unite us in supporting all those affected, in our determination to be strong and united,” he said (quoted by website Kremlin). Mr. Putin added that the “clear and unambiguous” position of cultural figures plays an important role in disseminating these values.

After the terrorist attack in Crocus, Russia began to discuss the possibility of returning the death penalty. This proposal was made by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev and the leader of United Russia Vladimir Vasiliev. Head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation Andrey Klishas called not to speculate on the topic of lifting the moratorium and recalled that the return of the death penalty without changing the current Constitution is impossible.

The terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall occurred on the evening of March 22. Armed people who burst into the complex shot visitors and employees, set the building on fire and fled. The suspected terrorists were soon detained. According to the latest data, 139 people were killed in the terrorist attack and another 182 were injured. In total, 11 people were detained on suspicion of the terrorist attack, 8 of them have already been arrested by the court.
