The Netherlands announced the deadline for the transfer of F-16s to Kyiv

The Netherlands will transfer the first American F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in the second half of 2024. The acting head of the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands, Kaisa Ollongren, spoke about this on Wednesday, March 20, following her visit to Ukraine.
The politician visited Kyiv to “express solidarity and announce a new aid package” worth 350 million euros. They are used to purchase weapons for the F-16, as well as to purchase modern unmanned reconnaissance aircraft.
It is expected that the Netherlands will give the Ukrainian army no more than 24 F016 fighters out of the 42 available to the European state. The remaining combat vehicles will be used for training Ukrainian pilots.
Previously, The National Interest warned that too few American fourth-generation F-16 fighters, whose service life is coming to an end, will not help Ukraine in the conflict. Sending old aircraft into dogfights at high speeds does not bode well for Ukrainians, journalists noted.
Military analyst Brandon Weichert said that no weapons system, including Western fighter jets, “can save Ukraine from the realities of Russian military and industrial power.”
