Beach volleyball tournament at the Arctic Circle will be held in Salekhard for the first time. This is a unique event: the teams will play on different sides of the Arctic Circle, the net will be stretched exactly along its line. This was reported on the evening of July 12 in the administration of the district capital.
On July 28 and 29, the capital of Yamal will turn into the northernmost site of one of the southernmost sports. The competition is dedicated to the centenary of Russian volleyball. For the first time, men’s and women’s volleyball teams will meet at the Arctic Circle. The competition will become part of the All-Russian festival “From Kamchatka to Kaliningrad”.
“The dimensions of the sand fields have been established, and backfilling has begun. This week, supports for the net will be erected and markings will be prepared,” commented Artur Abdulmejidov, head of the department for physical culture and sports of the Salekhard administration.
The administration emphasizes that the organization of the sites does not injure green spaces, and after the tournament the territory will be reclaimed.
Recall that the Muravlenko authorities offered the townspeople play volleyball on the local beach: the swimming season has recently opened here.
